EMERSON CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES COPELAND SCROLL™ COMPRESSORS TO BE INSTALLED IN STOELTING® SOFT-SERVE FREEZERS
ST. LOUIS, September 23, 2005 – Emerson Climate Technologies, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR), today announced foodservice-equipment manufacturer Stoelting has agreed to install Copeland Scroll™ compressors in its F431 model soft-serve freezers. Stoelting selected the Copeland Scroll compressor after field trials showed scroll technology was a more efficient and reliable solution for soft-serve freezers than reciprocating compressors.
“Emerson Climate Technologies is extremely pleased to be working with Stoelting,” said Leland Smith, foodservice market manager for Emerson Climate Technologies. “For more than a year, Stoelting performed extensive field trials on units containing Copeland Scroll compressors and found the technology inherently more efficient and reliable than the previous compressor technology. There is great confidence that this partnership will continue to grow as new applications are developed using Copeland Scroll.”
As part of the field-test process, Stoelting installed the Copeland Scroll in one of its soft-serve freezers located in an outdoor kiosk at an amusement park in Orlando, Florida. Over a period of five months, it measured compressor operating conditions, including suction-line discharge, compressor sump and freeze barrels hopper temperatures. Pressures were also taken from the suction and discharge service ports. The final results indicated that Copeland Scroll increased the machine’s capacity in high-temperature conditions.
According to John Jaschinski, product manager of the commercial products division for Stoelting, the Copeland Scroll compressor performed at exceptional levels throughout the process. “We were very impressed with the performance of the Copeland Scroll during the testing phase,” said Jaschinski. “The scroll compressor out-performed the hermetic technology that we were previously using.”
In addition to the reliability and efficiency of Copeland Scroll, Emerson Climate Technologies’ ability to have compressors readily available through its extensive wholesaler network pleased company officials. “Immediate response is very important to us and to our customers,” stated Jaschinski.
The robust Copeland Scroll compressor has several benefits inherent to its design that make it ideal for use in applications in harsh environments, such as the foodservice industry. Plans are currently under way to incorporate the Copeland Scroll in additional Stoelting® units. In the meantime, soft-serve freezers containing Copeland Scroll have already been provided to Stoelting customers in New Mexico, Arizona, New York and Pennsylvania.
